Sonya Smith is a Billings-based photographer and the founder of Driftwood & Dust Creative LLC, whose work centers on visual storytelling. With a background in journalism and environmental studies, she believes the best stories are shaped by grit, place, and presence.

Photographing across Montana, Utah, Iceland, and beyond, Sonya is driven by a deep love for wild places and authentic storytelling. With a camera in hand, she is just as at home hiking into the backcountry as she is photographing on the competition floor. For Sonya, the perfect image often means starting long before sunrise, braving bitter cold, or crouching beside a barbell during the final seconds of a workout because the most powerful moments rarely happen on schedule.

From CrossFit competitions and gym communities to mountain biking and outdoor sport, Sonya documents athletes pushing their limits and the focus, resilience, and camaraderie that define those moments.
