Max Erickson

My name is Max Erickson and I live in Huntley, Montana. I’m an avid golfer and love to be outside. I first began exploring laser machines when I owned the golf course in Havre, Montana. It was too cold and snowy to golf in the winter and so I began exploring the laser engraver with different mediums. I enjoy brainstorming creative ways to make items with leather, wood, glass, horseshoe nails and other metals. I enjoy making hand-made jewelry, leather key chains, magnets, laser cut and handcrafted objects. I use traditional methods handcrafting items using various mediums. In my work you will find engaging texture in designs that have clean lines and simple shapes easily worn daily. Each piece is lightweight and comfortable. I have a laser that I can engrave on just about anything from wood, glass, slate, and plastic laminate.

I have created leather key chains, magnets, cork and slate coasters with the Montana logo’s of 406, MT The Last Best Place, Big Sky Country, MT with mountains, and MT est. 1889 to name a few. I also have stemless wine glasses and ceramic mugs that have entertaining sayings engraved on them, as well as flannel wine totes with humorous sayings.

Throughout my journey of crafting I have made countless mistakes and errors which have then led me to discovering new ways to craft items. My love of golf and my sense of humor has extended to creativity in golf-themed ceramic cups and flasks with a touch of humor. My favorite project is the one that I’m working on at the time. One thing I’m most proud of when it comes to my work is the way my art brings joy and humor to people’s lives.
