Whitney Kimpton
My work integrates my visual responses to my subject matter, a thoughtful consideration of colors, lines, and strokes to evoke a mood, and a subconscious exploration to reveal the true nature of a being. I use a level of abstraction to follow lines and rhythm, yet I adhere to a realistic level of drawing. I am heavily influenced by the work of Barbara Hepworth, Eva Hesse, and Georgia O’Keeffe. Art connects me to a deep level of existence and experience.
I typically explore animals in their natural state. Living on the far reaches of a creek bottom tucked into hills, small sandstone cliffs, and gullies lined with Ponderosas and Junipers, I have the opportunity to live with my horses, deer, coyotes, fox, birds of all species, and a plethora of plants through all seasons.
